Paula C. Bickford, Ph.D.

Paula C. Bickford, Ph.D., is a professor of neuroscience at the Center of Excellence for Aging and Brain Repair at the University of South Florida Health Sciences Center. Dr. Bickford is also a research career scientist at the James A. Haley Veterans’ Hospital in Tampa. Dr. Bickford’s studies have advanced understanding of the effects of fruits and vegetables that are high in antioxidants on age-related deficits in learning and memory and on other biochemical and physiological markers. She has dedicated her career to the study of aging and the role of inflammation and oxidative stress. She was the president of the American Aging Association in 2002 and has served on its governing board off and on for the past 15 years.
