Fairfield University received renewed funding for “Music for an Urban District: Curricular Innovation,” their music education program’s ongoing initiative to improve music education in the Bridgeport, CT Public Schools.  The program provides Bridgeport’s music teachers with the training, supplies, and instruments necessary to create and deliver an innovative, standards-based multicultural music curriculum tailored to the needs and interests of urban students.The project includes a summer institute and monthly follow-up workshops during the academic year. A total of 12 teachers will participate and it is anticipated that approximately 6,000 students will benefit from the results of the initiative.
