ArtsConnection - 2008

Funded in March, 2008: $25000 for 1 years
With Dana Foundation funding, ArtsConnection will recruit and train four new puppetry teaching artists for their sequential puppetry curriculum (which will be expanded into the high school level) and develop a training model for replication.  The teaching artists will attend a four day Artist Institute where they will learn the professional development methodologies that ArtsConnection designed through extensive experience and research in working with its artist faculty.  Following the Institute, the artist trainees will engage in a process of observation and debrief with ArtsConnection’s master teaching artists who have been instrumental in the design of the puppetry program.  The project culminates with a residency at a NYC public high school which includes mentoring and ongoing observation.  At the conclusion of the 2008-09 school year, the methods, protocols and resources of the project will be analyzed by all program participants. From the collective information, the project directors will develop a model for program replication.
