Missouri Folk Arts Program

Funded in January, 2008: $32200 for 1 years
With Dana funding, The Missouri Folk Arts Program will create a series of workshops to train folk artists as educators for K-12 schools.  This proposed project builds on an NEA-funded pilot program which trained three folk artists for residencies in schools and created a curriculum guide for teachers specific to Missouri Folk Arts. Up to ten artists will receive training and mentoring from previously trained artists who will use the developed curriculum guide for three workshops to take place over a nine month period. At the conclusion of the workshops the trainees will secure residencies to teach their folk art in rural public schools.
