Cognitive Benefits

Thank you for this article. I will reference it in my PhD thesis on Apprenticeship Language Learning using Esperanto. Because Esperanto is more regular than languages with less conscious design, this strategy does not necessarily depend on the limited supply of specialist language teachers to provide the benefits of bilingualism quickly to young learners. Children can achieve the same level of bilingualism in 100 hours of Esperanto as needs 600 hours in most European languages or 2200 in most Asian Character languages. The confidence and global perspective provided by non-English-speaking penpals around the world boost third language acquisition considerably.
