 I'm an improv musician myself and have always thought of Keith Jarrett as being one of the greatest improv artist I've ever heard. I was listening to an interview with him and he made a comment that he thought that improvisation is the art of forgetting. That comment has stuck with me and I couldn't agree more based on my experience with my own learning process in both the musical and non-musical realms...
