Harlowe's monster mothers paint an even grimmer picture. Children are wired to stay close to a parent regardless of treatment. Believing that we can fix all damage later will hurt efforts to prevent child abuse and neglect and the resultant life time of suffering. What an interesting article, but let's punctuate the fairly recent findings on neuroplasticity as a hopeful means of healing the abused brain. Norman Doidge's publication, How the Brain Changes Itself, is a great read on the topic of Brain Neuroplasticity-and encouraging for each of us, regardless of emotional history!
