My nine-year old son is autistic, with border-line intellectual functioning. He has been stimming since he was seven months old. He is quite social and loving, but not age-appropriate. Any chance that you are considering the autistic brain for DBS?

My son has an acquired TBI from a car accident. He has extensive damage to many parts of the brain, He recently had a Spect Scan done which shows decreased tracer uptake in the left basal ganglia and slightly decreased uptake in the right front cortex....I am planning on starting a regimine of HBOT (Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy) sessions, which some research indicate positive results. I am an Emergency Room RN and have been researching avenues of treatments for my son's deficits. Besides, cognitive and memory problems, he has right hemiparesis and has constant quivering of his tongue and mouth, which his Neurologist says is from his basal ganglia damage. I found your symposium information which was given 4/17/2009. I am interested in some information regarding the topic presented at this symposium. Thank you.
