Stress on CNS is the cause...

My Central Nervous System has been in distress since I herniated a disk in my neck over 20 years ago. Although it was corrected with surgery 5 years ago by attaching a metal plate to my vertebra - fusion of c3-c5, I have noticed changes. Although pain and tingling were the initial reactions my body came to realize, it has transformed through the years to canker sores, and now uncontrollable itching (varied locations on my body) that just flare up generally in the later hours of the day. There is no doubt in my mind that my CNS is under stress and pressure and this is how my body is dealing with it. Living in the Northeast there are large barometric pressure changes, my bodies CNS has been trying its best to deal with it. It can drive me crazy. My diclofenac 50mg that I have been taking for 15 years now does not seem to be as helpful - thinking about upping the dose (anti-inflammatory). Would love to give it more rest, but I have a full-time job and 3 children. I'd try anything to keep up this active life style I have come to love. PS the canker sores started right after a family dog passed, the itching started prior to my daughter's wedding as there was much stress and little rest in the planning and preparing. The dog passed away 10 years ago and the wedding has been over for a year now. CNS is still stressed. Dr. Zhou-Feng Chen what are your thoughts and any cure yet?

Hi Cathy and John, I'm so sorry to hear about your distress. It seems in Cathy's case that the itching is most likely a side effect of the medication. If there is no way to eliminate taking the medicine, then perhaps you can counteract its annoying side effects by boosting your immune system. I'm not a doctor, but I would try taking a good quality probiotic a couple of times a day, like Florafood. I use it probiotics myself to keep the good bacteria strong and active in my system.

I also use whole food supplement powders that are made from freshly juiced barley, beets, and carrots to help keep my immune system strong with easily absorbed vitamins, minerals, and nutrients. I don't know if this would be sufficient to counterbalance the ill effect of the drugs, but it's certainly worth a shot. I'm a firm believer in giving the body as much nutritional help as possible and letting it do its thing.

John, for you I'd also recommend you try the internal supplements too, but I'd also suggest you try getting an aloe plant and cutting open the stem/leave and rub the gel inside on your itchy leg. That may help you find relief topically. I hope this my help either or both of you in some way. You can find those supplements I mentioned above at www.allaboutparasites.com if you're interested. I get them there at wholesale prices.

I had two heart valves replaced over 8 years ago (from childhood radiation treatment) and went on a variety of medications, which I must take. Since then I've endured severe generalized itching (head to toe), 24/7. I hope this nightmare will soon be over(I've been to at least 10 drs. about it & tried eveything..one cream givs me a few moments relief). I can't even wear normal clothing. I forget what life is like and I hope some help comes from the studies soon.
