Pesticides Linked to Parkinson’s in New Study

Parkinsons/Pesticide Residue(2)

Ken, you can get a genetic test from 23andme.com to satify your curiousity about any genetic factors related to Parkinsons. I and my two neighbors in the same small town of 70 people developed Parkinsons. The only thing we have in common is the same well water and handling Malathion as part of our jobs in the 1970's (Forest Service and Agriculture). Its worth checking out.

DANA, My father passed away in Sep08, ended his life due to advanced Parkinsons. Had it for 10 years, didn't want DBS Stimilation. He used Malathion extensively on fruit trees at home and DDT while working on family farm. Unfortunately he was the only male that lived over 50 years old in his family of 5 males. Parkinsons never manifested in his sisters, even though many farmed in rural area of Ohio. My father lived in a rural area in Mid-Michigan with farm fields surrounding his house, drinking well water 95% of his life. I seem to believe his water source may have farming chemical residue, or the possibility seems that it may exist. The well has been capped, city water is now used. I'm 57 years old, spent 36 years in military, therefore moved frequently, I hope I wasn't exposed to a specific water source with specific levels of residues during my adult life. I'm contemplating moving to a rural area in Louisiana. I have two questions: When I get the water well tested what specific chemicals should I test for/pay close attention to. Is there a test to determine in Parkinsons is genetic? Thanks Ken Ward Ofallon Illinois
