I became a migraine sufferer from the age of 12! I had classic aura from flashing lights, zig zags, vision in one eye only. I had pins and needles down the back of my throat, down one side of my face, paralysis down one side of my body. I had the most excruciating pain ever imaginable. I had nausea and vomiting. I was unable to care for my kids. I wasn't treated very nicely at the hospital. They tried things from Sandomigraine, Immigran, Largactil, Ergot suppositories, Pethidine, Maxalon to name a few. Last year at the age of 41 I had a Patent Formane Ovale (hole in the heart) closed and I was put on Plavix. No more migraines. After 6 months the cardilogist told me to go off them and day 4 I got a migraine. He gave me a loading dose of 7 tablets and I have been on them ever since. Tried to go off them a week ago to have back surgery and got a migraine. Am still on the Plavix. Tried taking asprin but my gut reacted badly and I had take Mylanta, Quick-Eze and Zantac. I guess no more operations for me because I don't want that debilitating life back again.

Manydrugs other than Plavix is Used, I use ifenprodil with milder antiplatelet action. For GON, C2 root block is more effective and simple procedure.

I have had full blown migraines since I was a child some lasting more than 5 days when no meds would help or were not available. During these I seldom could keep any thing down and have always noticed it was very hard to concentrate or work after them for a few days. I'm now 65. Three and half years ago I had a heart attack. A stent was inserted and within a month I had 2 more blockages, one in the stent. One of the drugs prescribed by the cardiologist I've taken until about 5 weeks ago was Plavix. During the 3 years I had only one very mild migraine. About 3 weeks after the Plavix was stopped the migraines began again and I'm having one about every 3 days. Zomig calms the headaches but doesn't completely get rid of them. Will see the family practice doctor as soon as possible in the hope she will put me back on Plavix though it was the cardiologist that stopped the med saying he had kept me on it more than 2 years over any other patient he cared for and the aspirin I also take would do the same job the Plavix had done these past years. Is there more recent results of using Plavix for migraines I can show my family practice doctor? My daughter has them also and other members of my sibling's family.

I am a sufferer from occipital neuralgia, and am tired of getting all these road blocks from insurance companies, doctors, etc. My husband and I are serious about finding ways to get the occipital neuralgia nerve decompression surgery approved and to get our voices heard! Anyone who is suffering or has suffered from occipital neuralgia knows how horrific the pain is and knows what i am going through. We want to get our voices heard and make a name for occipital neuralgia. If you are interested in getting your voice heard along with us, then please contact me!
We have found several congressmen, directors, insurance companies, news anchors, etc., whom we can contact together and let them know what is going on and what we are going through!!! If you are interested, please contact me at elizabeth_arcos_0314@yahoo.com.
