Gisela Kaplan

Gisela Kaplan, Ph.D., is research professor in animal behavior at the Research Centre for Neuroscience and Animal Behaviour at the University of New England, Australia, where she specializes in animal cognition and communication. She holds two Ph.D.s, one in the arts and another in animal behavior and veterinary science. Professor Kaplan has written eighteen books, some jointly with Lesley Rogers. Her book Australian Magpies: Biology and Behaviour of an Unusual Songbird (University of New South Wales Press, 2004) is on the bestseller list of CSIRO, Australia’s national science agency.
