Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana

Funded in March, 2008: $30000 for 1 years
Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana received support for development of their Spanish Dance Curriculum and training in the curriculum for their 11 professional artists.  The organization hopes that with this curricular framework and training, Flamenco Vivo’s TAs will be able to create more cohesive lesson plans, integrate the Spanish Dance Curriculum into the school’s curriculum, and further develop their work as individual educators. The training program will also deal with issues of classroom management, child development, and school/family relationships. The teaching artists will create lesson plans connecting the study of flamenco and Spanish dance to core subjects including history, geography, language arts, and Spanish language. National Learning Standards and the NYC Blueprint for the Arts will be incorporated.  After two initial in-depth creative sessions with a core group committed to drafting the basis of the TA curriculum, the teaching artists will participate in a one-week intensive training program and several follow-up sessions over the school year.
