Los Angeles County Arts Commission - 2004
Funded in March, 2004: $60000 for 1 years
The Dana Foundation's grant will enable the LA County Arts Commission to build on the first year of the County-wide Arts Education Training Program, supported by the Dana Foundation, and replicate the model to continue to provide this level of professional development for artists in Los Angeles County. This training program is currently the only comprehensive professional development program in the County to prepare artists, who are not associated with a roster, to provide services to schools. The approach and content of the training program in year two will again be hands-on and interactive; serve two equally important sectors of the community: teaching artists and artists working in an administrative capacity; enable artists to gain the knowledge, tools, and skills to effectively work in schools and classrooms; help artists acquire strategies to develop Standards-based curriculum to support the California Visual and Performing Arts Standards and Content Standards for English, History, Math and Science; help artists learn effective evaluation methodologies; and provide a professional designation in arts education for artists that complete the course.
