Washington Performing Arts Society - 2005
Funded in March, 2005: $30000 for 1 years
The Dana Foundation grant will fund the Washington Performing Arts Society's third annual Professional Development Institute for local performing artists who conduct residencies for schoolchildren. This Institute will target WPAS' 10 to 12 Teaching Artists, focusing on their needs and improving their teaching skills, and working toward creating a "Master" Teaching Artist component of WPAS' residency programs. These Master Teaching Artists will ultimately serve as models, mentors, and eventually provide training for beginning Teaching Artists. The curriculum will enable current artists to move from beginner and intermediate levels toward the Master level, fully integrating the arts into the school curriculum.
