Funded in March, 2006: $60000 for 1 years
With Dana funding, The Performance Lab will offer training, through interactive technology, to pre-service arts specialists at three New Jersey universities. Participants will learn how to develop a dance curriculum and lesson plans for both elementary and secondary students. The overall goals of the project are to develop units of study relating to National Standards that effectively deliver dance content and skills; and to make choreographers accessible to as many students as possible. Videoconferencing will be used for live interactive exchanges in which the choreographer teaches the arts specialists from a distant location. These sessions will be followed-up through interactive Internet dialogues including the posting of the choreographer's work, lesson studies posted by students for each other and Bulletin Board critiques.
