Lied Center for the Performing Arts (Nebraska)
Funded in January, 2009: $25000 for 1 years
Dana funding will support the Nebraska Teaching Artist Initiative. This two-year program provides training to community and teaching artists to learn how to plan effective artist residencies designed for K-12 students enrolled in rural Nebraska school districts and communities, including Native American Reservations. Fifteen artists will be recruited to participate in a two day-long seminars presented by the Kennedy Center which focus on arts integration and modeling culturally relevant approaches to arts education. Following the Seminar, artists will conduct week-long residencies in rural Nebraska schools. The Seminar facilitator will lead follow-up sessions for participants at the conclusion of the residencies. Mentoring by experienced teaching artists will be provided before, during and after the residencies.
