Northern Prairie Performing Arts

Funded in January, 2008: $50000 for 2 years
The Dana Foundation grant will enable Northern Prairie Performing Arts to hold a series of workshops aimed at developing the teaching skills of NPAA artists who present performances to schools throughout the upper Mid-West.  The workshops will equip the artists to provide post-performance classes to schoolchildren in which the themes of the plays presented will be discussed as well as to provide classroom teachers with tools to incorporate the arts into their curricula.  The artists will learn teaching skills, educational theory and state standards.  A residency in the schools following the training will allow the artists to utilize their new skills while working with classroom teachers and students.
