Lied Center of Kansas

Funded in January, 2008: $30000 for 2 years
Dana funding will enable The Lied Center to offer the Kennedy Center Artist as Educator Workshops to new and experienced teaching artists.  These workshops train teaching artists in planning and presenting workshops for teachers (for integrating the arts into their curricula) and for residencies to work with students.  Once trained, these teaching artists will travel to five rural Kansas communities where they will present their workshops and residencies. The artists trained in the first year will serve as mentors to those trained in the second year.  The overall goal is to create a corps of experienced teaching artists to assist schools and arts organizations in providing arts education opportunities for teachers and students in rural Kansas.
