Central Coast Center for Arts Education - 2006

Funded in January, 2006: $25000 for 1 years
The Central Coast Center offered “Illuminating Shadows: Introducing Storytelling and Shadow Puppetry to a New Generation” to artists seeking placements in California schools as teaching artists, or art specialists, but who do not have teaching credentials in California.  Components of the program are: train five theatre artists to work as resident artists in five rural public schools using storytelling and shadow puppetry as the basis for their lessons; offer three workshops for the artists and interested rural school teachers; provide opportunities for the artists to demonstrate the lessons they prepare and receive feedback; place the artists at the five school sites in fall of 2006; and develop an online learning course so that the training can be disseminated state-wide and nation-wide.
