Mississippi Alliance for Arts Education
Funded in January, 2007: $50000 for 2 years
The Dana grant will enable The Mississippi Alliance for Arts Education to establish a series of professional development seminars for teaching artists which will be offered three times a year in 2007 and in 2008. One seminar each year will take place during the Whole Schools Initiative Summer Institute, the state's largest professional development event focused on arts education. Another seminar, "Artists as Educators: Planning Effective Workshops for Teachers" will be led by a representative of the Kennedy Center’s Education Department National Partnerships Office. Subsequent seminars will be led by teaching artists who complete the first institute and who are currently listed on the state's Arts In Education Demonstrator Roster.
