Denver Center for the Performing Arts

Funded in January, 2007: $25000 for 1 years
With funding from The Dana Foundation, the Denver Center will collaborate with three rural arts organizations in Colorado to launch a pilot training program in their communities for experienced and novice teaching artists. The goals of the program are to provide these teaching artists with effective practices to teach drama and arts integration in public schools; increase students' interest in theatre; assist teaching artists in meeting the needs of rural communities; work with teaching artists, administrators and classroom teachers to develop lasting professional relationships, leading to co-curricular teaching and arts advocacy; give teaching artists methods of assessment and evaluation, improving their teaching and strengthening professional relationships; and help teaching artists create a supportive community of peers.
