Central Coast Center for Arts Education - 2007

Funded in January, 2007: $25000 for 1 years
The project will build on year one of the Dana-funded pilot entitled “Illuminating Shadows: Introducing Storytelling and Shadow Puppetry to a New Generation.” A new group of rural school teachers and performing artists will be recruited to receive training in using shadow puppetry and storytelling for schoolchildren with the goal of providing sustainable theatre arts in rural public schools in California. Three workshops will be offered to the artists and interested rural school teachers in whose classrooms the artists will conduct a semester-long residency. Using all of the resources prepared for the workshops and residencies, CCCAE will develop distance learning courses so that the training offered to the artists can be disseminated state-wide and nation-wide.
