John D.E. Gabrieli, Ph.D., is a professor in Stanford University’s Department of Psychology and Neurosciences program. He received his doctorate in behavioral neuroscience from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and was a postdoctoral fellow in the psychology department at Harvard University. He studies cognitive neuroscience, specializing in the brain basis of memory, language, and thought in both the healthy brain and in diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. He is the senior author of more 100 papers in peer-reviewed journals, including Science and Nature. In 1996 he received the American Psychological Association’s Early Career Award in Neuropsychology.
